Piette’s Post

It is very warm today as I write this post.  I am enjoying the last days of golf and cycling for a while.  Yet, our favorite season (ski) is just weeks away from starting.

Ron Quick, Mike Bast and I drove to the CMSC Trip Seminar meeting in Chicago October 17th.  We visited with multiple ski area representatives and travel agencies while we were there.  We also spent a couple of hours in training sessions in which we learned that the travel industry is having major issues this year related to the significant inflation that we have experienced, especially regarding transportation due to fuel cost.

I also had a good opportunity to speak directly to the representative from Vail Resorts regarding refunds to our members (of both clubs) that were not able to go on the trip because of the strike at Telluride.  I shared that our members would have been there on January 10, if their business partner did not have the strike.  I also shared that it is my personal opinion that we should not visit any Epic Pass site until each of our members that missed their trip because of the strike received their refund.  Understand that this requires people to supply the information that has been requested via email.    Since the trip, it does appear that Vail’s representative is following up on their issue.

Finally, I am pleased to state that details for our Western trips in 2027 are finally coming together.  With that, Ron and I agreed to plan to open our western trips on or about Saturday, December 5th.  Finally, stay tuned for additional information, especially from email and the December Newsletter.

I hope to see all of you at our Christmas Party, December 8th.
