First, I would like to recognize Rita Delveaux and Shelly and Frank Wickham for planning activities for club members and friends during August.
Unfortunately, it was raining for more than an hour before the Ride to Ledgestone Vineyard. Rita and I were at the start, Voyager Park. We were the only people present. Mike Bast similarly checked out Ledgestone Vineyard and reported that no one was there either. Sadly, we canceled the ride shortly after 5:00 PM.
On a brighter note, Frank and Shelly lead a group as we paddled Sturgeon Bay from Otumba Park to Waterfront Mary’s. I enjoyed the opportunity to learn to paddle and Sandy and I enjoyed the entire experience. Bayshore Outfitters had good kayaks and great service for those of us that needed them. These experiences are a great way to see friends and laugh.
Only half of the people that signed up for the January trip to Telluride were able to make it to Telluride in March. Vale Resorts decided to provide a credit for their Epic pass that will be good during the 2027 ski season. We asked for a full refund and I am disappointed that Vale Resorts did not do the right thing for our members when the strike at one of their business associates prevented our January trip. I will be less interested in skiing at Epic sites for a few years.
I am looking forward to our trips in 2027, with a 5-day trip to ski Snow Basin in Utah February 7, 2027 and a 7-day trip to Whitefish March 6, 2027. The Snow Basin trip will be a lower cost trip, designed to provide great skiing and boarding over fewer days so it’s easier for people to get away. The Whitefish trip will have the use of Amtrack for transportation, along with flights into Kalispell, or travel on your own. Check the newsletter for more information, then tell your family and friends about this opportunity.
Final costs for our trips are coming slowly. The trips will be open for sign-up during mid-October or as late as early November, we do not have a signup date yet. We will publish the information as soon as possible and you can expect to see the information in the October Newsletter. Plan ahead so you can sign up as the trips open and use your preferred options for travel and lodging.
The weekend trip to Snow River will be developed in the coming weeks.
Our Fall Banquet is October 1. Please sign up and put it on your calendar quickly. The information is in the newsletter. Early signups help the board plan the meal & prizes more effectively.
Enjoy summer, Winter is Coming!!!
