Piette’s Post

Welcome to summer!

This is one of my favorite seasons.  We will be offering some opportunities for our members and people that are interested in becoming members to meet to have fun getting outside for activities, beginning with the Gelandesprung Door County Bike ride 2026, at 9:30 June 13.  Review the May or June newsletter for details.

Rita and Gary will continue to organize their ride to Ledgestone Vineyards during July.  The June newsletter has this information.  This is a fun event.  You are welcome to join us at Ledgestone Vineyard via motorized transportation if that is your preference.  It is fun with good music, wine, and beer at the destination.

We have not had a combined event of cycling or golf in a few years.  Mike Bast and I will be working to organize this during August or September.  It will be your choice of a ride in the countryside, or golf.  Our intent is to use Wander Spring Golf Course as our location.  We will work with them to find a good date and organize food and refreshments.

IMPORTANT:  The Board agreed that we do not need to have our monthly meetings during June or July.  The Board will meet again on August 11, for our regularly scheduled meeting.  The Trip Committee will be busy.  We will be working to finalize our plans for two western trips in 2027 and consider options for a Midwest trip.

The Western trips will include:

Ogden Utah, February 6-10 2027.  The trip will provide the option of a shorter, lower cost trip.

Whitefish Montana, March 6-13 2027 is an independent resort that will be less expensive than many of the trips.  It will include an option for using Amtrack which will be a significantly less cost than flying.  It is also a fun ride with opportunities to reconnect with friends and make new friends.  We will have more information as we move through the summer months.

It’s time for me to get on my bike as I get ready for Door County.

See you later,

Tom Piette
