Happy New Year everyone!

Yes, it is the new fiscal year for Gelandesprung Ski Club.  I am wishing all of us good health for ourselves, our family, and friends. We finished out our ski year by having good spring skiing and a lot of fun at Telluride. We had our annual meeting April 10, at the Spring Banquet with a good group of members and a tasty meal from our taco buffet.  We had elections for Treasurer and for Vice President.  I am pleased to say that Phil Heldt chose to run again for the position of Treasurer and was re-elected unanimously without opposition. Scot Wederquist chose not to run again after four years of service. Scot has been very helpful, especially with corporate matters.   Scot spends significant time and effort helping with charities and is interested in increasing his efforts.  I wish Scot all the best in these endeavors, and look forward to seeing him at club trips and events.

Neils Jensen was nominated for the position of Vice President and agreed to serve.  Neils was not apposed and unanimously voted to be Vice President.  Neils and I spoke following the meeting.  He is interested in helping us to invigorate our club with some ideas to bring us together more frequently.

We are working on an early February 2027, 5-day trip to Ogden Utah and a March 6, 2027, 7-day trip to Whitefish, Montana.  The future of Midwest trips from Gelandesprung is currently uncertain and will have more discussion.  The very high cost of bussing is one of the significant factors that cause the trips to be expensive.

Summer is a great time for cycling, hiking, golfing, and other activities that support being the amateur athletes that we would like to be.  Claudia informed me that she and Joe will host a ride again this year on June 13th.  Check for details in the newsletter.

Shelly Wickham, Pia Heldt, and Rita Delveaux are planning a kayaking event in Door County in August. There will be options to rent a kayak from BayShore Outfitters (they will deliver and pick up the rented kayaks). The event will launch from Otumba Park and kayak to Waterfront Mary’s (1.3 miles; 2.6 miles round trip) for snacks/lunch and drinks. More details will be in the June newsletter.

Now is the time to plan other club summer activities.  Please consider organizing a trip for golf, cycling, kayaking, rafting, or other activities for our members.  You may contact Pia Heldt at Social@Gelandesprung.org, or me at President@Gelandesprung.org if you have ideas for additional activities
