President's Message for June 2015

bees on dandelionJulie's Jive

To paraphrase Olaf in the movie “Frozen”:  Bees will buzz, kids will be blowing dandelion fuzz and I’ll be doing what a frozen thing does in summer….  With the kick-off of summer, we have quite a few events scheduled for the next couple of months.  Whether that is a night of Happy Hour, a bike ride, a baseball game or a picnic, it all leads to fun in the sun!  Please go to the Calendar at to find something fun to do with your ski friends each week.

Eight of us attended the Chicago Metropolitan Ski Council (CMSC) Seminar on May 16th this year.  They offered the following classes for us to attend in the morning:  Marketing and Website Design, Club Membership, Airlines and Multi-club Trips.  One of the points gleaned from the Marketing Class was to have a Facebook account, which we have at .  (This is a new Facebook page under new management.)  You need a Facebook account to "Like" the page.

Additionally, you can share and "Like" from our event pages (Snow Events and Non-Snow Events) on our website at   By clicking on the events, you will see social media buttons in the top left corner of the page, as well as a "Like" button. social media links on Gelandesprung Ski Club events pageThe more 'Likes' we have from our website, the greater the visibility our website will become to anyone searching for a Ski Club.  You never know which ‘friends of friends’ may like to join us smiley

Please welcome Tom Piette as our new Historian Chair.  For personal reasons, Brain Fowle who had been our Historian decided he simply does not have the time to commit anymore.  Thank you Brian for all of your hard work while with the Board!

I also want to thank Sheri Gardapee for all of her hard work with the website.  Our website was used in one of the CMSC morning classes as an excellent example for the rest of the group to follow.  Nice job Sheri !

Retraction:  In the article titled “Boyne Highlands/Nubs Nob Ski Weekend “ in April’s newsletter, we indicated that Tom Tupper won the March Madness Trivia contest on the bus to Boyne.  The actual winner was Jim Derenne.

P. P. S.  Help us spread the word and ‘Like” us on Facebook at , as well as on the event pages.
